Been In An Accident? You Probably Have 10K From Your Insurance Company For Medical Bills.
Many times people in accidents, especially minor ones, do not want to get checked out because they’re worried about the cost. You may be shocked to learn that many people who are badly, seriously, or permanently hurt in an accident do not go to the hospital the same day as the accident. Many times, adrenaline is pumping at the scene of an accident and it is only hours later that people notice they’re hurt. That’s why many people wake up after an accident in severe pain. Many times people don’t get treated the following day either, even if they’re in terrible pain, because they’re worried about the cost of medical care.
Florida law requires all drivers to have $10,000 in PIP coverage. In short, this means people have $10,000 to use towards most medical bills associated with any motor vehicle accident so long as they have auto insurance. Additionally, Florida law actually requires you to be seen by a doctor within 14 days of the accident to be entitled to those PIP benefits. It’s not uncommon to see people seriously hurt that try to “tough it out” for a few weeks and then be denied insurance they’ve paid for because they’re outside the 14 day window. This is why we at Waggener Law recommend most everyone we consult with to get checked out by some kind of medical professional, if only to be safe.
The sooner people start getting treated, the sooner they can get better. Everyone who has auto insurance in Florida has PIP benefits up to $10,000. You must go to a medical profession within 14 days to get access to these benefits. Most visits to the hospital or a doctor won’t cost more than $10,000.
